Summary: While the Hotels.com property pictures look great, the single rooms were horrible. Bugs in the culinary drawer, extremely basic like a roadside Motel. Immediately off property is third world, and does not feel safe. Unpaved rock roads make walking difficult, no street lights, and streets are immediately adjacent to deep jungle --- easy for criminals or stalkers to hide. Our first trip to Tulum, and really surprised how third world everything is. Beaches dirty, side streets piled in trash, and all hotels are secured inside of large walled compounds. Beautiful new properties popping up, but vast majority look like construction has completely halted, or been abandoned. Maybe just workers work at a snails pace. MystiQ has no front desk, and communication is via email. Would NEVER stay there again. Super super basic and minimal everything --- contrary to the beautiful pictures advertised.
