Pine Point Promises is a lovely classic New England home with two quaint cottages, built in the 1950's to accommodate visitors, and an attached apartment, nestled alongside the Scarborough estuary on East Grand Avenue. The cottages are a short two minute walk to the longest stretch of sandy beach in Maine. Pine Point Promises welcomes summer and year round guests who want to enjoy a seaside holiday. Includes high speed WIFI, TV with DirecTV and HBO, air conditioning and propane heat.

Pine Point Promises has once again opened its doors to welcome summer and year round guests who want to enjoy a seaside holiday. Guests will have the cottage to themselves, with a private entrance and designated parking. The backyard overlooks the ecologically important Scarborough estuary and salt marsh. There is a no fee laundry room available in the house that guests may use as well.

Sunset Cottage tucked in the corner of the property offers beautiful views of the the saltwater estuary and spectacular sunsets.

About the Location:
Pine Point in Scarborough, Maine, convenient to Interstate 95 and U.S. Route One, is a quiet seaside community which has welcomed summer visitors to Maine for generations.

Sunset Cottage is a one bedroom with additional sleeping in the living room.
It overlooks the estuary which has sweeping sunsets in the evening. It is the larger of the two cottages, just over 600 square feet, and it used to have two bedrooms, but the second bedroom walls were removed, to give more common space and it includes a round four person table and chairs, and a desk space for visitors who may have to work while visiting.

We want to advise guests that we don't provide Beach Towels (maybe next year if we can find some end of season bargains). We have a beach umbrella and a few folding canvas chairs guests can borrow. If you want something more plush or fancy, please bring your own, or there are places just down the street you can purchase them for reasonable prices.

There is outdoor lawn furniture, tables and chairs on the property and in the back yard that guests may use on the property if you want to picnic or socialize outside. We host occasional campfires with marshmallows when the weather is right, and when we do, we are happy for guests to join us.

Our goal is your safety, comfort, and happiness, and we hope to provide an experience more akin to visiting distant relatives, or friends of friends opening our home to you, versus a commercial experience.

In addition to air conditioning in the summer, this unit has an efficient propane heater, as well as supplemental electric heat for rentals in the cold weather seasons. We ask our guests to not set the heat above 75 to conserve electricity and fuel.

More About the Sunset Cottage:
Sunset Cottage is named because it is on the Sunset side of the property, it sounded nicer to us than Cottage #2, and has beautiful views of the sunset over the estuary.

There is shelf space and a full size refrigerator for your own food and drinks. The kitchen has a four burner stove and oven, and comes equipped with dishes, pots, pans, and utensils if you plan to cook during your stay.

The property borders a nature preserve, and the same joy that comes with having birds and other wildlife close to the house, also does come with the possibility of an occasional mouse or other critter getting into the cottage. Of the many guests this year, only once have we had a little visitor, which we did catch and remove. We don't use poisons, and we do set traps, and fill holes when we find them, but cannot guarantee the absence of critters, especially if guests leave food out. Please keep food off of the floor and put away during your stay, or you may be inviting the cute critters or ants into the cottage. If you do spot one, we will come set more traps if you let us know.

More About the Area:
Pine Point extends for four miles along Saco Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, from the jetty at the mouth of the Scarborough River to Old Orchard Beach. You'll find plenty of room to relax on the beach, swim, or take a stroll along the beach to enjoy the surf, seabirds, and an occasional seal. The cottage is located across the street, along a section of beach that is uncrowded on even the busiest of summer days. Our neighbors are the homes of year round and summer residents, other small cottages and guest houses which don't create the crowds of the larger condos and hotels of densely populated Old Orchard Beach down the road.

It is a two mile walk or five minute drive to downtown Old Orchard Beach where you can take a ride on the Ferris wheel and amusement park rides, stroll along the world famous pier, shop in many boutiques, hit the arcade or nightclubs, pick up a souvenir, or relax in restaurants from fast food to fine dining.

Getting Around:
Private, off street parking with two parking spaces for guests, with on street day time parking for your visitors (no parking in any street of Scarborough from 2:00 a.m. until 6:00 a.m it is a $40 ticket and the police do enforce it---we learned the hard way ourselves). There are restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute walk of the cottage. Plan on driving to grocery stores and entertainment hubs like the Old Port (25 minutes) or outlet shopping in Kittery or Freeport (30-40 minutes).

There is a public bus that runs by the house to Portland. Uber, Lyft, and other ride share services are popular and available. The Downeaster train has a station close by in Old Orchard Beach with service to Boston, Portland, Freeport, and the rest of the Amtrak network.

Please note, we have a no refund policy on VRBO/Homeaway due to past abuses of people locking down our reservations and then canceling without enough time to fill the reservation.

We are a small family business, with only two cottages. We simply do not have the flexibility that large commercial operations have. There are only 11 peak weeks for each cottage in the summer. Please be sure of your dates when booking.

Rest assured, if you cancel for an important reason, we will be able to refund your money if we fill your reservation.

So if you do need to cancel for any reason, let us know as early as possible to give us a chance to give you a full refund.
