The Retreat, Narrawallee | House in Narrawallee
4 Bedroom House in Narrawallee
A 4 bedroom holiday haven tucked away within earshot of the surf at the northern (inlet) end of Narrawallee.
NB: Any bookings subsequently cancelled due to COVID-19 travel restrictions etc. are fully refundable!
The Retreat is comprised of two sandstone, split-block buildings, each with wrap-around verandahs. The main has a covered pergola. All bookings include access to both buildings. (2 for the price of 1!)
They are set on a secluded, large flat lawned block, accessed via a shared driveway, only 200m to the calm waters of Narrawallee Inlet and an easy, level 400m stroll to the northern end of Narrawallee Beach.
With everything on flat ground & no stairs, The Retreat is very family-friendly, with plenty of space to spread out and relax, and is ideal for 2 families. The verandah-posts are spaced just right for hammocks, whilst the yard is large enough to play most games, from badminton to boules!
The main building sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms - 2 queens and 2 x 2 singles. (No need to cram the kids into double bunks here!)
The open plan of the well-equipped kitchen, dining and lounge rooms aids easy entertaining - whether watching TV or a DVD, playing CD's & games or just sitting together for a chat!
After enjoying the inlet or beach and a refreshing rinse under the outdoor shower, relaxing is made easy under the wrap-around verandahs and large, covered pergola with plenty of outdoor furniture.
The separate garage building has a games room which is ideal for kids and adults alike - with table tennis, pool and air-hockey tables and its own lounge, TV, stereo and bathroom.
Please note, the eco-friendly property has only two of its four boundaries fenced and is occasionally frequented by kangaroos and all sorts of birdlife. It is consequently unsuitable for pets, especially dogs. Pets are not allowed under any circumstances!
Whilst The Retreat is tucked away from the hustle and bustle, it is conveniently close to Mollymook, Milton and Ulladulla for all supplies and a change of pace - they abound with shops, cafes, eateries, and even a fun parlour, cinema, Cupitt's winery/restaurant and an increasing number of top-class restaurants, including Rick Stein at Bannisters!
In addition to having water-based pursuits including fishing, swimming, surfing, kayaking etc. within walking distance, a leisurely stroll through nearby Garrads Reserve will delight nature lovers. There are also plenty of other options for the energetic. The bushwalk to Pigeon House Mountain is only a 30 mins drive away and is a great experience for photographers and the fit and adventurous! For those less energetic, the panoramic views of the coast from Pointer Gap Lookout are thoroughly recommended, with the short, level access from the carpark suitable for prams and wheelchairs.
What to bring
Bring your own sheets, pillowcases, bathmat, towels and tea-towels. (Note for sheet sizing that there are two queen beds and four standard singles.) There are plenty of blankets and pillows, with spares generally on the top shelf of the wardrobes in each bedroom.
There are pegs for the clothes line, plus a drying rack and clothes dryer in the laundry. There are also a few coat-hangers in each wardrobe.
Bring your own CD's and DVD's, fishing rods, sunscreen, insect repellent and perhaps even a hammock!
There is an ice-cube tray in the freezer and the kitchen is well stocked with all manner of utensils, glasses, mugs, crockery, cookware and coffee-makers (plunger and Aldi-pod machine).
Consumable items such as dishwashing powder, liquid, and dishcloths, scourers, toilet paper etc. are periodically replaced but unfortunately we can't guarantee that the previous guests don't use them all up before you, so please bring your own.
